Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

Many of us carry so much stress tension that we begin to feel as though it’s normal, until we experience the release and relaxation a massage brings. Research shows it reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases lymph and blood circulation, boosts the immune system and relaxes and relieves painfully tightened muscle tissue. Massage helps release the tension from stress, increases circulation and promotes healing in the body.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage manipulates the body’s soft tissues using many different corrective techniques. The muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons are lengthened, relaxed and replenished with techniques such as kneading, cross-fiber friction, trigger point and deep tissue massage. Swedish massage directly influences circulation, muscle tone and flexibility, increases range of motion and elimination of metabolic wastes. Stress reduction and relaxation, muscle pain and injury relief are some of the benefits experienced with Swedish massage. Swedish massage sessions are done unclothed.

Thai Bodywork / Shiatsu

The seasons and the environment as well as internal pressures that we navigate through every day can create constrictions that may impede optimal performance and the ability to enjoy life. Thai Yoga and Shiatsu bodywork release obstructive energy, yet also add energy to boost the flow of “chi” through the body. With thumbs, elbows and even knees and feet, deep pressure is applied to gently open the tight and restricted musculature and fascia, and is incorporated into a rhythmic and soothing chain of tractions, stretches and lifts that have been used therapeutically for thousands of years. This bodywork is especially helpful for migraines, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, PMS, arthritis, and tight muscles. Neural and circulatory systems are stimulated as the bodywork session brings you into an open and relaxed, yet refreshed state of being.

Myofascial Release

(myo=muscle, fascia=tough connective tissue) is an effective therapeutic technique using gentle sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions and movement therapy to release the structural components of chronic pain caused by either injury trauma or daily wear and tear. Muscle balance may be restored allowing bones to float back into alignment. Myofascial release is known to help conditions of back and neck pain, TMJ, Fibromyalgia, headaches and sports injuries.
