“Couch to 5K” – Rookie Runner Program

Can you really go from recliner to runner?  From walking around the block with your best friend to running your first 5K?  You bet you can!  Join Jan Yerkes for this 8-week beginner program – no running experience required!  You will start out walking, and gradually work up to jogging and then running as you get comfortable.  Learn proper form and technique, and combine your walking/running workouts with essential strength and core work.  You will be amazed at what you can accomplish!  And how’s this for a goal – train for 8 weeks and run your first 5K – the Warrington Township-Herb Kahl Scholarship Fund 5K on June 22, 2014.  The fund benefits Warrington township college-bound seniors – do something good for yourself and your community too!   This program is designed for “aspiring runners”, not those who are already running regularly.  Participants should be able to walk for 25-30 minutes before starting this program.  Maximum 12 participants.

Stroller FIT

Join Personal Trainer and mom Adrianna Parsons for a super fun “Mommy and Me” stroller workout in Central Park.  You won’t believe what a workout you can get, using your stroller, the fitness stations and trails at the park, and of course your baby as training tools!  In an hour, you’ll get a total body workout and your baby will have a great time too!  Plus you’ll learn fitness tricks, tips and techniques you can use on your own, anytime!  Limited to 10 participants.

Equestri-FIT

Join Sally Huebner for this sport-specific program for equestrians.  Experience interval training designed to improve stabilization, balance, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance for all levels of riding and disciplines.  Sally is a lifetime equestrian, and has designed this program to increase each rider’s physical and mental independence, prevent injury, and maximize performance on and off the horse.  Maximum 10 participants.

Arthritis Foundation Combo Program

Get the best of both AF-certified programs with this “land-water combo”.  On Mondays, you will train in Cornerstone’s fitness center, working on strength, mobility and balance.  On Thursdays, you will be in the pool, doing the aquatic exercise program.  This is a great choice for working adults, or those who would like the benefits of both programs but can’t commit for 4 days of classes each week!  Maximum 10 participants.  No class Memorial Day.

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Exercise Program

This aquatic exercise program, created by the Arthritis Foundation, is designed specifically for people with arthritis and related conditions.  It has been scientifically reviewed and proven to reduce pain and stiffness, build strength, and increase range of motion, balance and endurance.  Taught by certified instructor Kelsy Husk, B.S., this program can benefit participants of all levels – from those who are already exercising to those who have been sedentary due to limited mobility.  Program takes place in the shallow end of the lap pool. Maximum 10 participants.  No class Memorial Day.
